Generated documentation artifacts for 2.8MM lines of code across 3 different programming languages
The Story
Founded in 1939, BMI, a global leader in music rights management, has represented over 18.7 million pieces of musical work created from over 1.2 million songwriters. The company wanted to determine a path to modernization for 3 of its applications, written in COBOL, VB6, and C#. Altogether, these applications consisted of 2.8MM lines of code for which no documentation existed. Initially, BMI was considering taking these applications into Salesforce’s platform as a service product and needed to understand what parts of the code to optimize as part of this effort. At the same time, with so many lines of code across multiple programming languages, this project was at risk of becoming a huge time and resource sink. BMI needed a code intelligence tool that would provide them the full set of information they needed across all applications within a manageable time frame.
